A closer look

Creed Bratton from the beloved workplace sitcom The Office is actually portraying a highly fictionalized, unhinged version of his real self, keeping his actual birth name and his authentic history as a rock musician in the show's lore. The writers basically looked at a perfectly normal former guitarist from the nineteen sixties folk pop band The Grass Roots and decided to turn him into a deeply disturbing, cult leading, mung bean sprouting psychopath for comedic effect. He literally just showed up to set every week to play a profoundly insane alternate reality version of himself who steals identities, fakes his own death, and casually admits to mysterious bloodstains on Halloween. You have to deeply respect the absolute sheer confidence of an actor who allows a massive network television show to broadcast to millions of viewers that he is fundamentally a terrifying criminal weirdo just to secure a consistent paycheck
