Paying a premium to freeze your tail off on a solid block of ice is the ultimate flex of winter luxury. Every year, the iconic ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi is painstakingly sculpted from thousands of tons of frozen water pulled from the nearby Torne River. Guests sleep in thermal sleeping bags on beds made entirely of ice in rooms kept at a brisk negative five degrees Celsius. The most beautifully absurd part is that come spring, the entire architectural masterpiece melts back into the river, meaning every winter's hotel is a completely unique, temporary art installation.
