Uri Geller rose to massive international fame in the nineteen-seventies by claiming he possessed psychic abilities that allowed him to bend spoons and fix broken clocks with his mind. His mystical powers were famously debunked on live television when Johnny Carson, following the advice of stage magicians, provided his own perfectly normal spoons that Geller mysteriously could not bend. Despite being repeatedly exposed as a skilled illusionist using basic sleight of hand, he still managed to convince major corporations and even government intelligence agencies to hire him as a psychic consultant. The CIA literally spent taxpayer money testing whether this guy could telepathically look inside secret Soviet facilities. It proves that a little bit of charisma and a weak piece of silverware can completely bypass the critical thinking skills of the highest levels of government
