Mount Rushmore was meant to show more than heads
Talk about half-assing a project. Sculptor Gutzon Borglum had grand plans to show Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln down to their belts, presumably so we could see what kind of trousers the founding fathers preferred. Unfortunately, the money completely dried up in 1941, leaving us with four disembodied heads awkwardly staring out over South Dakota.
