Why manga is read backward

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

Flipping Japanese comics to read left-to-right sounds easy until all the characters suddenly become left-handed. Publishers maintain the original right-to-left format because mirroring the artwork entirely ruins the artist's visual composition and completely botches any asymmetrical character designs. Western readers just had to adapt to the backward flow.
