Stealing someone's intellectual property is easy, but successfully suing them for it is a logistical nightmare. To win a massive payout, the original creator must mathematically prove exactly how much hypothetical cash they lost due to the theft. If someone blatantly copies a wildly obscure piece of work that wasn't generating any cash anyway, the judge might award absolutely nothing. You essentially have to prove that the thief successfully stole your future wealth.
