In 1978, a sister duo got sick of watching kids trade cards of sweaty baseball players while completely ignoring women's achievements. Their cynical, brilliant solution was the Supersisters trading card set, funded by a grant and featuring 72 notable women from Gloria Steinem to Rosa Parks. They even asked the women for their stats to put on the back, treating political and scientific accomplishments like batting averages. It was a massive middle finger to male-dominated pop ephemera, sneaking radical feminism into the pockets of middle-schoolers via cardboard rectangles.
