A closer look
Physical attractiveness causes an unconscious cognitive bias where people automatically assume that good-looking individuals possess other positive traits like intelligence, kindness, and competence. Edward Thorndike coined this as the halo effect in 1920 after noticing military officers consistently rated physically fit soldiers as smarter and better leaders without any actual proof. Essentially, human biology forces us to be superficial idiots who willingly hand over promotions, lighter prison sentences, and social forgiveness to people just because they have symmetrical faces and a great jawline. If you ever wonder why a spectacularly incompetent executive keeps failing upward despite setting the company on fire, just check their cheekbones. Life is objectively playing out on easy mode for the genetically blessed, while the rest of us actually have to develop a personality and work for a living!
