A closer look

Cancer the crab has arguably the most pathetic origin story of any zodiac constellation in Greek mythology. While other signs get to be majestic lions, fierce archers, or mystical water-bearers, the crab was just an annoying crustacean that Hera sent to distract Hercules while he was busy fighting the multi-headed Hydra. The crab bit Hercules on the toe, and Hercules immediately crushed it with his foot like a minor inconvenience. Hera felt bad for the squashed bug and threw it into the sky to become a constellation, meaning everyone born between late June and July derives their spiritual essence from an ancient pest that got completely obliterated after doing zero actual damage. It makes total sense why Cancers spend most of their lives holding onto grudges and hiding in their protective shells
