The guitar noise meant to ruin Radiohead's Creep
When your band hates the wildly catchy song you just wrote, sabotage is the only answer. Guitarist Jonny Greenwood loathed 'Creep' for being too wimpy, so he repeatedly slammed his guitar before the chorus to try and ruin the recording. Ironically, that aggressive dead-note crunch became the defining hook of the track and secured their legacy.
