John of the Cross suggested some structural reforms to his order, and his colleagues responded by literally kidnapping him, blindfolding him, and locking him in a tiny closet for nine months. He eventually escaped by unscrewing the lock on his door and climbing out a window, definitively proving that some meetings really could have been an email.
