Audio engineers are basically playing god with copper wire. When Winslow Burhoe was designing high-end speaker crossovers, his complex inverted-dome tweeter circuits inadvertently functioned a lot like early neuristors—electronic models of biological neurons. Instead of just separating bass from treble, he essentially created a primitive artificial brain dedicated solely to making 1970s rock music sound perfectly balanced.
