We've all been lied to by those spinning novelty shop glass bulbs. Everyone claims light pressure pushes the black and white vanes, but photons don't pack nearly enough punch for that. It actually works via thermal transpiration—the black side heats up, causing gas molecules in the partial vacuum to violently smack against it and spin the rotor.
