The metal that expands as it freezes

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

Most materials have the common decency to shrink and pack tightly together when they get cold, but antimony actively rebels against this rule. Much like ice, molten antimony expands as it solidifies into a rigid crystal structure. This weirdly rare property makes it incredibly useful in alloys used for casting typefaces, because it aggressively pushes into every microscopic corner of a mold as it cools down.
