A closer look

Stealing a piece of the Roman Empire seems like an incredibly cool idea until the Catholic guilt inevitably kicks in. Every year, tourists pry loose cobblestones and fragments of ancient monuments to take home as free souvenirs. Months later, fearing bad karma or just realizing a dirty rock looks utterly stupid on their mantle, they mail them back to the Italian government with desperate, groveling letters of apology.
