A closer look
Defense is apparently just a polite suggestion in professional basketball. In December 1983, the Detroit Pistons and Denver Nuggets decided they just absolutely hated missing shots. They played a triple-overtime thriller that looked less like an NBA game and more like a malfunctioning arcade machine. The two teams combined for 370 points, a record that remains completely shattered to this day, proving that sometimes the best strategy is just outrunning the other guy until everyone collapses.
