Jack Chick pumped out hundreds of millions of unhinged evangelical comic tracts warning that Dungeons & Dragons, Catholicism, and rock music would literally drag you to hell. Despite being one of the most widely read comic publishers in human history, Chick operated in total secrecy, never giving interviews and rarely allowing himself to be photographed. He funded a massive underground distribution network entirely built on the premise that everyday pop culture was a direct conduit for satanic witchcraft.
