A closer look
When you produce thirty-plus interconnected movies, eventually the math is going to aggressively betray you. During 'Spider-Man: Homecoming', a massive title card claimed the film took place '8 Years Later' after the events of the first Avengers movie. Fans immediately realized this shattered the established timeline mapping, mathematically pushing the universe into the future incorrectly. The error was so egregious that Marvel executives openly admitted they messed up and literally published an official, hardcover 'Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline' book in 2023 entirely to patch their own continuity holes.
