Nachman of Breslov told his followers to scream silently
Because yelling in public tends to get you completely arrested, this 18th-century teacher invented the silent scream. Nachman actively instructed his followers to vividly imagine shouting at the absolute top of their lungs while keeping their mouths completely shut. He claimed this intensely aggressive internal yelling was the perfect way to totally release massive existential dread.
