In 1931, Germany built a silver railcar equipped with a massive, unshielded airplane propeller at the rear. The 'Rail Zeppelin' set a speed record of 143 mph, but railway bosses quickly realized an exposed, decapitating meat-grinder spinning in crowded stations was a horrific lawsuit waiting to happen.
