A closer look

When you are trying to pedal a bicycle farther in exactly 60 minutes than any human in history, you don't just buy a nice frame off the rack. Pinarello engineers designed Filippo Ganna's track bike using aerospace-grade fluid dynamic software. To manage the chaotic airflow swirling around the rider's legs, they incorporated 'AeroNodes' onto the seat tube—tiny structural bumps directly ripped from the biological design of a humpback whale's flipper. This biomimicry reduces drag by keeping the boundary layer of air firmly attached to the frame. The entire bike was then 3D-printed out of an advanced Scandium-Aluminum-Magnesium alloy to perfectly match the precise length of his limbs. It’s not a bike; it's a bespoke human-powered missile.
