A closer look

Gamers will optimize the fun out of everything. When Among Us exploded in popularity, tryhards figured out that every completed task moved the green UI bar by an exact pixel ratio. If someone claimed to finish a wire-fixing task but the bar didn't flinch, they were instantly spaced. It completely shattered the psychological manipulation aspect of the hidden role mechanic. The developers had to hurriedly code in an option to only update the task bar during emergency meetings, restoring the paranoia and forcing players to actually talk to each other instead of acting like spreadsheet auditors.
