Descartes once climbed into a stove to think
HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART
The guy who said "I think, therefore I am" did his best thinking inside a literal baking appliance. While serving as a soldier in Germany during the freezing winter of 1619, Descartes found a masonry stove (often translated as an oven) and just climbed inside. It was in this sweaty, claustrophobic heat hallucination that he developed the foundation for analytical geometry.
