Why pointing with one finger is rude in Malaysia and Indonesia
Your index finger is apparently viewed as an aggressive, lethal weapon in certain parts of Southeast Asia. Pointing at people, places, or things with it is considered incredibly rude and condescending. To avoid looking like an arrogant tourist, you are expected to point using your thumb with your fist folded inward, like you're subtly hitchhiking at everything you see.
