Shouting at your router won't fix dead zones, but turning your literal walls into an antenna just might. MIT researchers developed a smart surface called RFocus, which looks like an unassuming sheet of wallpaper but is embedded with thousands of microscopic radio-frequency antennas. By dynamically toggling the electrical state of these tiny elements, the surface acts as a reconfigurable lens that actively focuses and bounces ambient Wi-Fi or 5G signals directly toward your device. It completely bypasses the need to emit its own power.
