Why butter makes a burn worse

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

Unless your end goal is to baste yourself like a Thanksgiving turkey, keep dairy products off your injuries. Butter is essentially a thick layer of fat. When applied to a burn, it traps the residual heat inside the skin, continuing to cook the tissue beneath. Plus, unless you are using sterile surgical butter (which doesn't exist), you're just rubbing bacteria directly into an open wound.
