A closer look
Blind Bulgarian mystic Baba Vanga became a legendary figure for allegedly predicting global disasters and the exact date of her own demise with stunning, terrifying accuracy. The reality of her prophetic prowess is vastly less impressive when you realize she never actually wrote anything down, leaving her loyal handlers to conveniently interpret her extremely vague, highly generalized mumblings after catastrophic events had already occurred. For decades, tabloid newspapers have frantically recycled her supposed visions, predicting that Europe will become a nuclear wasteland or that aliens will teach us how to build underwater cities, none of which ever actually happens. It is profoundly hilarious that the global media still religiously covers the unverified post-humous ramblings of an elderly woman who was essentially the Eastern Bloc's version of a Magic 8 Ball
