The iconic studio founder genuinely believed that two dogs sharing a plate of pasta was completely unrealistic, inherently messy, and lacked any sort of romantic appeal that would resonate with human audiences. It was only after an incredibly stubborn animator secretly drafted out the entire sequence in his own free time and presented a fully realized, beautifully romantic storyboard that Disney finally relented and allowed the scene to stay.
