A closer look

Delivering mail across the vast, arid expanse of the South African Karoo desert sucked, so clever postmen figured out how to hitch a ride on the existing infrastructure. They attached outrigger wheels to standard bicycles, locking them perfectly onto the railway tracks. This allowed postal workers to pedal effortlessly over long distances without fighting sand and brush.
