In a massive flex of corporate ego, Steve Jobs viewed the original 1984 Macintosh not just as a consumer electronic, but as a genuine work of art. Because 'real artists sign their work,' he forced the entire core development team to sign a piece of paper, which was then permanently engraved into the metal molding tool. Every single original Mac shipped with these signatures hidden on the inside of the back cover, purely so the creators could secretly smugly pat themselves on the back.
