A closer look
It genuinely concerns me how many adults think polar bears and penguins are neighbors hanging out on the same iceberg. The name 'Arctic' literally comes from the Greek word for bear (arktos), while 'Antarctic' means 'no bears.' Polar bears are apex predators strictly confined to the northern hemisphere. Unless a polar bear figures out how to book a connecting flight through Atlanta or swim across the scorching equatorial oceans without melting, the southern penguins are completely safe from becoming bear snacks.
