A closer look
It's a miracle this franchise survived its own creator's terrible naming instincts. During early drafts, George Lucas had burdened his masterpiece with the clunky, B-movie title 'The Adventures of Luke Starkiller, as taken from the Journal of the Whills, Saga I: The Star Wars.' Thankfully, sanity prevailed, the name 'Starkiller' was swapped for 'Skywalker' to sound less like a Charles Manson disciple, and the title was heavily abbreviated so it could actually fit on a movie poster.
