St. Columba is historically credited with the first-ever recorded sighting of the Loch Ness Monster in 565 AD. According to the completely serious historical account, he saw a giant beast about to eat a guy, yelled at it to go away, and the monster surprisingly complied. He basically invented Scottish cryptid tourism completely by accident.
