A closer look
That gorgeous, sparkling finish catching the afternoon sun is actually just a microscopic scrap metal yard mixed into a liquid binder. Standard glossy paint looks completely flat, so to create depth and an aggressive sparkle, chemical mixers dump thousands of incredibly fine aluminum flakes directly into the base coat. When light hits the surface, it bounces off these jagged little metal shards in random directions, creating a dynamic shimmer. You are essentially driving around in a giant, highly polished disco ball.
