Status code 404 Not Found was established as the standard response when a server cannot find the requested webpage, sparking a persistent myth that it was named after Room 404 at CERN where the web was invented. Sadly, the creators have repeatedly debunked this romanticized origin story, confirming that there wasn't even a Room 404 in that specific building and the number was just a mundane sequential assignment. Humans are so deeply desperate to find meaning in their digital suffering that we collectively fabricated a mythological origin story for a broken hyperlink. We literally romanticized an error code because the truth of bureaucratic numbering systems was too overwhelmingly boring to accept. Now the 404 page serves as the internet's ultimate graveyard, a daily reminder of dead websites, deleted embarrassing content, and our sheer inability to type a URL correctly on the first attempt
