Why dark-ride vehicles slowly turn

You might think the slow, sweeping turn of your doom buggy is meant to heighten the dramatic tension of the scene. In reality, the vehicle is just mechanically pivoting your line of sight so you don't stare directly into an aggressively bright exit door or a pile of discarded employee water bottles. The magic is entirely dependent on forcing you to look at the expensive animatronics instead of the drywall.
