Buying the points you need to win shouldn't inherently ruin your chances of winning. Yet, Dominion invented the deckbuilding genre by doing exactly that. The 'Estate' and 'Province' cards that secure victory do absolutely nothing when drawn, acting as dead weight that suffocates your perfectly tuned economic engine. It creates a brilliant strategic tension where pulling the trigger on scoring too early turns your lightning-fast deck into a bloated, unplayable mess of useless green cards.
