Mandelbrot mathematically defined natural rough edges

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

Benoit Mandelbrot noticed that standard geometry was completely useless for measuring realistic jagged shapes like coastlines or clouds. He formulated the concept of fractals to explain patterns that endlessly repeat at smaller scales. He single-handedly forced mathematicians to admit that nature is profoundly messy and infinitely annoying to quantify.
