A closer look

Traditional cameras are incredibly stupid; they capture the same boring frame 60 times a second even if nothing moves. Prophesee's event-based sensors mimic the human optic nerve. Instead of taking full pictures, individual pixels only fire when there is a change in lighting. By processing only the moving anomalies—like a bullet cutting through the air—these neuromorphic chips achieve the equivalent of a million frames per second without melting the processor.
