In 1917, over half the French army completely refused to launch any further suicidal attacks against German trenches. Instead of a violent uprising, they simply stopped moving forward. Terrified of a full revolution, commanders quietly agreed to defensive tactics and better conditions, proving that organized passive resistance can stop a military machine in its tracks.
