A closer look
Behind the slapstick, anvil-dropping violence of Looney Tunes was a very real, incredibly petty feud between animation legends Bob Clampett and Chuck Jones. Clampett famously loved taking credit for the creation of iconic characters like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, often heavily exaggerating his solo contributions in mainstream interviews. This drove his former colleagues absolutely insane, leading to decades of bitter public letters and furious, coordinated denials from the rest of the Warner Bros. animation department. Turns out, the guys drawing coyotes falling off cliffs were just as eager to backstab each other in real life.
