Just because the rooster crows before sunrise doesn't mean the rooster caused the sun to rise. The post hoc fallacy is the persistent flaw of assuming that because event B happened after event A, event A must be the direct cause. It is the reason people constantly misattribute major economic shifts to whatever minor event occurred the day prior.
