Author Stephenie Meyer originally envisioned future Superman actor Henry Cavill as her absolute perfect choice to play the sparkly, brooding vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight movie adaptation. By the time the film finally went into actual production, the studio executives decided Cavill looked significantly too old to play a 17-year-old high school student, passing him over for Robert Pattinson. Cavill dodged an absolute bullet of cinematic proportions, avoiding a decade of being relentlessly stalked by screaming teenagers and having his entire acting legacy tied to heavily powdered skin. Instead of aggressively staring at Kristen Stewart in a rainy Washington forest, he just went on to play the literal Man of Steel, which is definitely a slight upgrade from a vegetarian vampire. Pattinson had to suffer the sheer indignity of glittering in the sunlight so that Cavill could peacefully wear a cape in peace
