Incorruptible saints are often just coated in thick wax

Never rotting after death is a prime requirement for extreme holiness, but a little cosmetic help is usually required. Many so-called incorruptible bodies displayed in glass cases have actually been heavily treated with wax masks and chemical preservatives to hide the fact that they are, in fact, decomposing just like everybody else.
