Cast members of the American version of The Office literally voted on their iconic theme song while sitting in a van on the way to a promotional event, making a massive branding decision with zero corporate oversight. The creator gave the actors a boombox with a few instrumental tracks and told them to pick their favorite, completely bypassing the expensive focus groups usually required for television production. They casually selected the upbeat melodica track that would eventually trigger Pavlovian binge-watching responses in millions of millennials for the next two decades. It is incredibly fitting that a show dedicated to mocking the useless bureaucracy of corporate middle management finalized its most recognizable asset by essentially winging it in traffic
