A closer look

The Unexpected Hanging Paradox destroys schedules. A judge tells a prisoner they will be hanged on a surprise weekday. The prisoner logically deduces it cannot be Friday, or they would know by Thursday. But if Friday is out, it cannot be Thursday, cascading backwards until the hanging is entirely logically impossible. The judge hangs them Wednesday anyway, because pure logic completely fails against arbitrary authority.
