At the end of a laundry cycle, your washing machine attempts to reach the rotational speed of a helicopter. This extremely aggressive spinning uses centrifugal force to physically slam your heavy, wet clothes against the outer drum. The water, having nowhere to go, gets violently squeezed out through tiny holes in the metal, saving your dryer hours of work.
