Holograms trap light interference patterns on glass

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

Despite what modern sci-fi promised us, real holography is just a deeply complex glass paperweight. By splitting a laser beam, bouncing one half off an object, and colliding it with the other half on a photographic plate, it freezes a 3D interference pattern that only reveals itself under the right light.
