Imagine needing a valid passport just to drive your kids to a domestic school because an 1846 treaty drawer literally didn't understand how geography worked. Point Roberts is a tiny exclave of Washington State that dangles off the edge of a Canadian peninsula, physically severed from the rest of the US by the 49th parallel. If residents want to visit their own country, they have to cross international checkpoints into British Columbia, drive through Canada, and then cross back into America. It is a bureaucratic fever dream.
