A closer look

Before he was getting shoved into wood chippers in Fargo or running Atlantic City in Boardwalk Empire, Buscemi was an actual working FDNY firefighter in the 1980s. Following the 9/11 attacks, he quietly showed up at his old firehouse, threw on his gear, and worked grueling 12-hour shifts sifting through the rubble of the World Trade Center. He actively dodged cameras and refused interviews, proving he's a much better person than the creepy weirdos he usually gets paid to play.
